What it is
The Audit Stream is a tamper-evident blockchain-style ledger of every signal that flows through AIOP. Each entry is cryptographically signed and linked to the previous entry, forming an unbreakable chain. Signals are keyed by request ID, ordered by timestamp, and joined into complete timelines on demand. Unlike traditional logs that can be modified, the Audit Stream's cryptographic structure makes any tampering immediately detectable.
Genesis··································································Each block references the previous hash. Changing one breaks the whole chain.
Why it matters
The Audit Stream is the foundation of every compliance claim AIOP makes. Evidence Packs are assembled from it. Replays read from it. Audit reports draw on it. If the stream is incomplete or untrustworthy, everything built on top collapses. The cryptographic chain ensures that once a signal is recorded, it cannot be altered or deleted without detection — providing the immutable audit trail regulators require.
Where it lives in AIOP
The Correlate primitive generates the stream by capturing and chaining every signal. The Attest primitive reads from it to build Evidence Packs. The stream forms the boundary between operational systems (which write to it) and audit systems (which read from it). Regulators never access your running infrastructure — they read the Audit Stream.
